EXPERIMENT 03 · TOUCH
One Place, Three Movements
The question
What changes when the location stays the same but the movement changes?
Method
Begin with one familiar place.
Choose one body location and begin with a movement you already use there.
Then change only the movement.
Keep the location, pressure, pace and friction as similar as you reasonably can. Then compare three distinct movement patterns.
For example:
- a straight or back-and-forth stroke
- a circular movement
- still pressure or a small rocking motion
The exact three movements matter less than making them clearly different from one another.
What to Notice
Notice whether changing the movement alters:
- where the sensation seems to register
- how focused or diffuse it feels
- pleasure or arousal
- comfort
- your urge to increase, reduce, or stop the movement
Possible results
One movement may feel immediately more interesting.
Another may only become noticeable after some time. Your familiar movement may still be the one you prefer.
You may also find that movement matters less than pressure, pace, or location.
The point is not to collect techniques. It is to notice what changes when one familiar place is touched in different ways.
